The basis for IATF 16949:2016 – which defines quality management in the automotive sector – is the quality management standard DIN EN ISO 9001. Thus, DIN EN ISO 9001 is the trigger for the revision of IATF 16949:2016. Thus, both the so-called “High Level Structure” and individual extended requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001 find their way into the automotive standard. In addition, however, new automotive-specific requirements are also incorporated into 16949:2016.
