Quality Management
Every company wants to be a reliable partner for its customers. But to implement this claim systematically and to prove it by a certification, that is quality management! Increasing customer satisfaction in order to ensure a sustainable growth strategy is another goal of quality management.
In addition, every company is confronted with numerous legal, regulatory, normative and customer-specific requirements. Analyzing these, interpreting and coordinating them, and then applying them in one’s own company to ensure systematic customer delivery – that, too, is quality management.
The mother of all QM standards is ISO 9001, which has been permanently adapted to technological and cultural change since 1987 and is today considered the most successful standard in the world. According to the ISO Survey, as of Dec. 31, 2021 (the current statistics are dated Jan. 24, 2023), 1,077,884 companies with 1,463,153 locations worldwide are certified to ISO 9001:2015.
Industry-specific standards
In order to meet industry-specific requirements, many other standards and regulations have been established around ISO 9001:
IATF 16949 → Automotive industry
EN 9100 → Aerospace industry
ISO/TS 22163 → Railway industry
IFS → food industry
ISO 13485 → Pharmaceutical industry
These are just a few examples of these industry-specific extensions and additions.
